Finding a Scholarship Without GSC's Help

If you are a talented tennis player, American coaches may contact you with offers to attend their college or university. They may even offer you a full scholarship. While it may be tempting to accept their offer, it is important to know all of the facts before making a decision.

It is a college coach's job to put together the best team possible. Coaches, however, represent a wide range of schools. Some schools are strong in tennis while others are weak. Some are top academic universities and others are undistinguished. Some are located in beautiful towns and regions and others are in less desirable. Some coaches are technical experts who have developed players for the pro-circuit, while others have little tennis knowledge. Whatever the facts about the school and program, coaches doing their job will try to convince you to attend their school.

The question for GSC clients is not whether you will get an offer, but which offer is the best for you. This is a personal choice and we work with you to help you make it. As a GSC client, you will receive offers from different schools; and GSC will help to evaluate these offers and decide on the school that is right for you. Accepting an offer from a college coach is risky if you do not have enough information about the school. It might be an ideal choice but without knowing a great deal about the school and your unique goals and abilities, it is impossible to know. With GSC you will have the information you need to evaluate each school.

Your friends who have attended American colleges may also offer advice and information. While the schools they recommend may be good matches for you, it is important to remember that all players are different, and that one school is not right for everyone. This is a big decision and it takes a great deal of information to make a wise one. Don't waste years at a school you would not have chosen if you knew all of the facts. Whether you work with GSC or not, it is important for you to know as much as possible before making this decision.
